Reviews

Interesting items of correspondence shown of George Bernard Shaw with his Edinburgh Printer R & R C Clark.

It appears G B Shaw was very knowledgeable about matters of pre-press. He was firm on the use of typeface (Caslon), and he also edited his manuscripts after he had received proofs, bearing the typesetters work in mind (making text fit, while editing his writings).

Shaw also made his own sketches for book illustrations, for those then to be produced as professional etchings by artists.

Many illustrations, some in colour.
