The Art of Skiing is a beautiful collection of the finest examples of poster art. Organised by country and resort, it uses posters from the Beekley Collection the largest private collection of ski art in the world to reflect the changing trends in skiing fashion and technique, and investigates the most popular resorts, their establishment and development.
Nicolette Tomkinson, Director of the Vintage Posters Dept, Christie’s South Kensington/London, writes about the Beekley Collection (largest private collection of ski memorabilia of books, posters and paintings).
The Beekley Collection was assembled over a 50-year period by Mason Beekley, who eventually built a private museum in Connecticut to house the pieces, where they were available to view by invitation only.
Poster Designers include:
Walter Herdeg, Carl Moss, Herbert Bayer, Hugo Laubi, Burkhard Mangold, Herbert Matter, Roger Broders, Ludwig Hohlwein, Joseph Binder, Hans Hofmann, ….
